This handcrafted log cabin in North Lawrence, St. Lawrence County, NY, is a masterpiece of traditional log home construction, enhanced with modern conveniences. Built using Carolina Log Cabin plans, the home’s structure features Yellow Pine logs sourced from North Carolina over a decade ago, ensuring both durability and natural beauty. These logs, carefully selected for their rich texture and deep grain, create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The full red metal roof adds a striking contrast against the natural wood tones while providing exceptional longevity and weather resistance. Black Marvin windows and Reed exterior doors not only enhance the rustic aesthetic but also offer energy efficiency and durability. The tongue-and-groove ceiling adds to the authentic log cabin experience, seamlessly tying together the interior’s warm wood finishes. Custom handcrafted barn doors bring a touch of artisanal craftsmanship, while vinyl floating floors provide a practical yet stylish foundation that complements the cabin’s natural elements.
Architecturally, this home is built for both comfort and resilience. The ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) basement, poured in Fall 2024, offers superior insulation and energy efficiency, creating a stable foundation that enhances the home’s longevity. The radiant in-floor heating system, powered by a high-efficiency boiler, ensures even warmth throughout the colder months, a crucial feature for homes in Northern New York. The circular driveway allows for easy access, leading to a property equipped with a 1000-gallon septic system for long-term functionality.

The 200-amp meter disconnect and 200-amp service panel provide a robust electrical system, ensuring the cabin is fully equipped for today’s technology while maintaining an off-grid, natural aesthetic. A Note From Our Client
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation and to express my great appreciation and satisfaction with the work done by Northern Sons Construction in their building of my home.
All work was done carefully and professionally by Northern Sons: clearing the heavily wooded site, digging and building the basement, laying the subflooring then logs for the cabin walls, construction of the metal roof, blowing-in attic insulation, installing exterior doors and windows. They built and finished all interior walls, doors and ceilings. They installed the flooring, the electrical, in-floor heating, and plumbing systems. They also installed the kitchen cabinets, countertop and sink, along with bathroom vanities and sinks, and LED mirrors. Kitchen appliances, and the washer and dryer were also installed. Closet shelving was included. The cabin was move-in ready for me!
Northern Sons began clearing the site on September 19, 2024 and the Certificate of Occupancy was filed just six months later on March 17, 2025.
During that time, I lived next door to the site, so I was able to observe their daily process and practice. I spent a lot of time watching! I found them to be equally able to work as a team or individually, depending upon the task at hand. Their attitude toward one another was one of mutual respect. They problem-solved together when needed. They were serious about the work, yet able to laugh when a funny moment occurred.
Often, I saw them take extra time to make a tighter, cleaner fit, especially on finishing work. Additionally, each member of the crew was polite and very helpful to me. They always answered my questions and often asked how I'd like something done. When possible, they gave me choices, reminding me, "You are the owner!"
Every inspection passed with flying colors! Without exception, every inspector told me, "These guys do good work!"
